This week we went to the garden to look at the flowers and practice drawing and being very detailed. We got to the garden and picked a flower, I picked a salontro flower. Then we spent 20 minutes drawing the flower in detail, and writing some of the things we noticed. After the 20 minutes were up our teacher brought out a goji berry flower and had everyone go around and point out one descriptive thing they noticed about it that no one else had said. Then I helped plant some banana potatoes in the garden. We dug a whole in the ground big enough to put this circular thing into it that keeps the gophers out, then we put the potato seeds in and covered them in dirt and then watered them a lot. |

This week when we went to the Garden we picked a plot that we were going to plant our plants that we started in the beginning of the year, and with a partner we took out all the weeds and un-wanted grass we could so that we had space for the new plants that we were going to plot in the coming weeks. We had to pull all the weeds that were taking up space and some invasive grass that was really bad for the ground. Some people started to plant some seeds if they finished early. |
Garden Blog Post 3: 3/8/18 This week at the garden I spent almost all of the time in the garden pulling out the cilantro plants from my plot, they were about my heights with really big roots. I pulled the rest of the weeds and roots that were still in the ground. I learned how to plant corn and I planted it into my plot. I fed some of the weeds that were okay for the chickens to eat. Garden Blog Post 4: 3/13/18 This week I pulled more weeds and planted some kale in my plot. We also got the eggs from the chickens coop. I pulled a lot of really big and pesky weeds which I'm really i'm proud of. Garden Blog Post 5: 4/10/18 This week we went to the garden on our first day back from break. We went to the garden to collect soil samples for our soil lab later in the week. I got to check on my crops for the first time since before break and pulled some of the weeds that had grown since the last time we visited. Garden Blog Post 6: 4/27/18
This week we read an article about the process it takes to make compost and we made a poster to show that. We used what we knew and found out to help make our compost pile which we are going to use for the rest of the semester and when we weren't making helping with the pile we weeded our beds. I got through a lot of mine clearing out a lot of the old plants that were dying and all the weeds that had appeared in the last week. |

On Tuesday at the garden each group picked an area where they want to present their projects for exhibition and we started making the tables we are going to present on. We used giants pieces of wood and bricks to construct the tables. We also helped get the garden ready for people to come through by weeding our garden beds and getting the entire garden looking presentable. |

On Thursday my group figured out what were going to use to display our project as well as where were going to be in the garden. Then I spent the rest of the time helping some others with weeding in our area because it didn't look very presentable, I also made the area flatter because there were some areas with giant holes in the ground and I flattened the area to make it easier for people to walk around. |
